First of all, we would like to thank everyone involved for their incredible help with our Christmas Shoebox Appeal. There has been a great reaction with 166 boxes in so far!
Annah Magwenjere
A special thank you to our organiser Annah Magwenjere, Louise Burns and Lucy Rosindell – who have worked incredibly hard to co-ordinate all of our boxes and arrange delivery of them to Cape Verde which included listing every individual item that you all so kindly donated.
The Resort Group always hosts an annual Christmas charity event and separately, from funds raised throughout the year, we donate Christmas gifts to the children of Cape Verde. This year, we wanted to work on long term projects to offer the best opportunities to the children of this incredible island – therefore, we chose to allocate these funds to donating much-needed items including nursery and school equipment, educational items, toys and much more.
Instead, we set up the Christmas Shoebox Appeal with contributions from employees across The Resort Group. We asked that the Christmas shoeboxes contain a minimum of £10 value and that they should be filled with a mix of presents.
Christmas in a Box
They could include small gifts such as a cuddly toy or toy car, summer hats and sunglasses, small games like Connect4 or cards that can be played in any language, draw-string school bags, colouring books and arts & crafts materials. This may be the only present they get this year so we also wanted our donors to include a personal Christmas message for the child that received their ‘Christmas in a Box’.

What a response! Our office is full to the brim with beautifully wrapped Christmas goodies for the children of Cape Verde. As ever, we are overwhelmed by the generosity.
Now that we have all the shoeboxes ready to go, it’s only a matter of time until our annual Christmas party event on 18th December where Santa will personally deliver all of our gifts. Keep an eye on our social media pages because we’re going to share lots of pictures throughout the day.
