With the festive season in full swing, it’s that time of year for the famous Cape Verde Foundation Christmas Party!
Hosted at MELIÃ Dunas Beach Resort & Spa on Wednesday 19th December, the fun-filled day of merry activities welcomed 303 school children from schools all over Sal Island, including Sta. Maria, Espargos, Palmeira and Pedra de Lume. Also in attendance, Mayor of Sal, Julio Lopes was joined by fellow government dignitaries; Mr Euclides Silva do Rosário – the Councillor for Youth, Sports, Education and HR, Mr. Jucelino Cardoso – the Councillor for Social Action, Family, Health and Housing, and Mrs. Marcia Graça – the Representative of the Ministry of Education in Sal.
Jam-packed with games and activities, the day kick-started with MELIÃ Dunas Beach Resort & Spa animation team greeting the excited children with balloons, music and dancing – setting the mood for a joyous day.
Keeping the energy high, the team got everyone to their feet for a dance and sing along to the Christmas song ‘What Christmas means to me’ before The Resort Group PLC Founder and Executive Chairman, Rob Jarrett & Analita Neves took to the stage to speak on behalf of The Foundation.
Continuing the afternoon with games and snacks for the children provided by the Foundation, the animation team performed a festive favourite, Aladdin, as the 300 plus guests watched enthusiastically.
And of course, a Christmas Party wouldn’t be complete without a visit from Santa Claus himself! Joining the party, the Christmas celebrity popped in especially to hand deliver a special gift to each child, making for a truly magical Christmas.
A festive day full of songs, games and laughter – it was a great day for all involved and wouldn’t have been possible without the supporters of the foundation and The Resort Group PLC who have donated such as staff, family and friends. To read more about the day the latest news feature here.
